Skate Park Ramps
Step-by-Step Planning

The Situation:
Skateboarding was once viewed as a fad, but since 1995, it has become the fastest growing participation sport in the United States. Action sports continue to grow in popularity, and the kids who participate in them are asking for dedicated parks that will allow them to practice and do what they love to do.

Communities all across the U.S. and around the world are responding to this demand, and skate parks are becoming as mainstream as public swimming pools and baseball fields.

The Facts:
The National Sporting Goods Association (NSGA) reported that between 1995 and 2000:

  • The number of boys between the ages of 7 and 17 who skateboard increased by 129%.
  • Participation in baseball was down 12.7%, football was down 16.7% and basketball was down 9.4% for the same period.
  • The number of girls between 7 and 17 who skateboarded increased 100%. This represents the largest increase in participation of any sport in that demographic.
  • Girls represent 16% of the youth skateboarders.

The Response:
Every community or municipality that considers adding a skate park has specific needs and expectations for that park. We have developed a short Skate Park Planning Guide to help you identify the various considerations when constructing and operating a skate park.

The Woodward Advantage:
Woodward® Ramps and Rails are the only truly modular components in the industry, giving you the most creative freedom when designing a skate park. Woodward's skate elements give you a variety of components let you assemble an incredible and challenging experience for riders of all skill level!
